If you live in Pittsburgh, you know how random the weather can be. One day it can be 50° and then the next day it could be in the teens- snowing. Pittsburgh definitely keeps you on your toes when it comes to the weather.
The funny thing is- when Jackie reached out to me to set up her engagement session we weren’t even planning for snow. It just worked out that way- And OH did it work out!
They got engaged on Christmas and really wanted to do their engagement pictures as soon as possible. We scheduled for the end of January and chose the beautiful Melon Park or Walled Garden in Pittsburgh since there isn’t much foliage around and we know they have beautiful architecture, elaborate iron fences, and that timeless charm we were looking for.
The week leading up to their session we saw on the news forecast that it was supposed to snow (but we weren’t expecting this). I was obviously super excited because I’ve always wanted to do a winter themed engagement session. Out of the eight years I’ve been a wedding and engagement photographer I’ve never had a session in the snow where it was ACTIVELY snowing.
When we arrived I was so excited! I ran right into the garden, down the 3 small steps and fell SO fast that I didn’t even know what happened- I just laid there for a few seconds to make sure I was okay (I was). The even funnier part… Jackie is a nurse! When I didn’t get up right away she thought I knocked myself out lol!!
I may have had a few bruises and a broken nail but with a BUNCH of Hallmark movie worthy images later- it was totally worth it. This session is one of my favorites that I’ve ever shot in my photography career. Let me know what you think!

Just looking at these two cuties you see how much they love each other.
If you have a fur-baby you should always bring them to your engagement session! You can get some adorable images plus they would be perfect for your save the dates! Just make sure you bring a doggo wrangler for when its just going to be some solo shots of just the two of you.

When Jackie hopped out wearing this sleeveless dress with open toed heals I knew she was serious about this. The contrast it gave with the snow is absolutely stunning!
Jackie- anyone that is willing to do a snowy winter engagement session with this outfit and shoes is a badass in my eyes! But, I already knew that ever since she told me she is a nurse!
It's hard to chose a favorite from this session but this is absolutely in my top 5!

Do you want to know something?... She was apparently super nervous before the session because she didn't know how to pose. You wouldn't believe that now- would you?!
It's only fitting to end with this GORGEOUS custom ring Louis had made for Jackie! He did such a great job designing it!
